Project: Southall Leisure Centre

Southall Leisure Centre, mindful of cultural constraints on having both sexes using their gymnasium, decided to create a women-only exercise facility.

To provide the necessary accommodation, Bolt & Heeks were engaged to convert an existing but under-used outdoor exercise area, on a first-floor terrace, into a gym specifically set up to meet local women’s needs.

As the centre was open throughout the works, we used a fire escape for site access and took care to isolate the works from the public at all times.
