Care 24 Peaks Challenge 2009

A group of intrepid Bolt & Heeks trekkers teamed up for charity and took part in the CARE 24 Peaks Challenge, supported by Contract Journal, last summer. The challenge, aimed exclusively at the construction industry, is to raise money for leading international aid and development agency CARE International, whose overseas projects help 55 million people in 70 countries find routes out of poverty as well as making emergency provision when natural disaster strikes.

Ian Palin and his team of six were faced with the ambitious challenge of scaling 24 peaks in the Lake District in as many hours! Said Ian, “We trained  very hard in the months leading up to the event; our training was put to the test in April when our team successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks.   It was an enormous challenge to get up all 24 mountains in the Lake District in 24 hours but we were a great team, supported each other throughout, had a fantastic time and raised a lot of money for a very worthy cause."

All that training obviously paid dividends as the team managed to complete the challenge in just  21hrs 32min, raising £6,000 for CARE International.

The team members were Ian Palin, John Catlin, Terry Wilson, Dave Cannon, John Bryson, Matthew Hunter and Reid Wilson with Mark Sargeant as the team's Steward and Quartermaster.
